Sizakele Petunia Mzimela, known as Siza Mzimela, is a trailblazing South African businesswoman and aviation pioneer. Born on November 13, 1965, in the town of Harding in KwaZulu-Natal, Mzimela has achieved remarkable success in the airline industry, breaking barriers and defying gender and racial stereotypes. She is widely recognized as the first black woman to establish an airline, making her an influential figure in both aviation history and women’s history.
Mzimela’s journey in the aviation industry began in January 1996 when she joined South African Airways (SAA), the national airline, as a research analyst.
