Paula Jean Myers Pope (November 11, 1934 – June 9, 1995) was an American diver and Olympic medalist. Born in La Verne, California, Myers Pope made a significant impact on the world of diving throughout her career. She represented the United States in the Olympics three times and earned a total of four medals, solidifying her place among the greatest divers of her time.
At the young age of 17, Paula Jean Myers made her debut in the Olympic Games at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. She won a silver medal in the 10-meter tower event, displaying remarkable skill and talent. This early success set the stage for a promising career in diving.
Four years later, at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, Myers Pope continued to shine. She secured a bronze medal in the 10-meter tower event, proving her consistency as a top-level athlete. Her performances garnered attention and admiration from fans and fellow athletes alike.

In 1958, Myers Pope married Karl Pope, a USC basketball player. The couple went on to have two sons and three daughters. Balancing family life and her career, she retired from dental hygiene in 1984. She then co-operated a family-owned business, the Ojai Valley Racquet Club, with her husband in Ojai, California.
Tragically, Paula Jean Myers Pope’s life was cut short when she passed away at the age of 60 in 1995. Her legacy as a remarkable and influential diver lives on, leaving a lasting impact on the sport.
