Margaret Ann Steffens, better known as Maggie Steffens, is an American water polo player who has achieved remarkable success in her career. Born on June 4, 1993, Steffens has become a prominent figure in women’s water polo, earning multiple accolades and leaving a lasting impact on the sport.
Steffens began her water polo journey at Monte Vista High School, where she showcased her exceptional skills. During her time at the school, she played a pivotal role in helping the team secure the league championship in 2007, 2008, and 2009, demonstrating her early talent and dedication.
Continuing her passion for water polo, Steffens joined Diablo Water Polo in Alamo, California. Here, she further honed her skills and developed the techniques that would later make her a formidable force in the sport. Her time at Diablo Water Polo helped shape Steffens into the exceptional athlete she is today.
Following her high school success, Steffens embarked on her college career at Stanford University. From 2013 to 2017, she represented the Stanford Cardinal as a member of the women’s water polo team. Steffens proved to be an invaluable asset to the team, leading them to three NCAA championships in 2014, 2015, and 2017.
Steffens’ contributions to the team were paramount, and her performances in crucial games showcased her ability to rise to any occasion. In 2015, she scored four goals in the semifinal game against USC, securing a 9-8 victory for Stanford. In 2017, she once again displayed her skills, scoring three goals in the championship game against UCLA, including the game-winning goal with just 9 seconds remaining.

The following year, in 2011, Steffens once again contributed to the United States’ success, helping them win the FINA World League Super Final and the Pan American Games.
