Julieann Louise Krone, born on July 24, 1963, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, is a retired American jockey. Her groundbreaking career and remarkable achievements in horse racing have firmly established her as a trailblazer and a respected figure in the sport.
Krone’s passion for horses began at a young age. She demonstrated her remarkable skill as an accomplished show horse rider during competitions in western Michigan. Influenced by the career of Steve Cauthen, she set her sights on becoming a professional Thoroughbred jockey.
On January 30, 1981, Krone made her debut as a jockey at Tampa Bay Downs in Florida, riding a horse named Tiny Star. Just a few weeks later, on February 12, 1981, she emerged victorious in her first race aboard Lord Farkle at the same venue. This early success marked the beginning of a truly exceptional career.
