Anrune Weyers (née Liebenberg) was born on November 3, 1992, in South Africa. She is a para-athlete who has made significant contributions to the world of athletics. Despite being born with a congenital defect in her left arm, Weyers did not let this hinder her passion for sports and embarked on her athletic journey in 2010.
Weyers quickly made her mark in the T47 disability class, showcasing her exceptional talent and determination. In the 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships, she demonstrated her prowess by securing second place in the 400m event and an impressive sixth place in the 200m event. These achievements were just the beginning of a remarkable career.
The year 2012 proved to be a defining moment for Weyers as she competed in the London Paralympics. Against tough competition, she displayed unwavering resilience and clinched two medals. Weyers won silver in the 400m event and added a bronze in the 200m event, making her country proud. Unfortunately, her joy was short-lived as her medals were stolen during her journey from George airport in the Western Cape.
