Anastasia Ermakova, born in Moscow, Russia, in 1983, is one of the most decorated synchronized swimmers in history. From a young age, she was drawn to the world of dance and art, which eventually led her down the path of synchronized swimming. At the age of four, she joined a choreography school in Moscow, and the following year, at the age of five, she passed the selection test for synchronized swimming. From that moment on, Anastasia dedicated herself to the sport, making the pursuit of gold medals her ultimate goal.
Although Anastasia did not possess natural ability or exceptional flexibility like some of her peers, she compensated with an unparalleled level of determination and willpower. Training became a way of life for her as she tirelessly worked towards her dream. The years of rigorous training paid off when she won her first gold medals at the 1998 Youth Olympic Games held in Moscow, in the solo, duet, and team events.
Anastasia’s success continued on the international stage. She competed at the 1999 World Junior Championships in California, where she once again claimed gold in both the duet and team events. In 2000, at the European Junior Championships in Bonn-Berlin, she dominated the competition, securing gold medals in figures, solo, duet, and team events.
