Anastasia Semyonovna Davydova, born on February 2, 1983, is a Russian former synchronized swimmer and five-time Olympic gold medalist. She is also currently working as a coach.
Davydova’s journey in synchronized swimming began at a young age. Her first passion was figure skating, but after watching rhythmic gymnastics on TV, she was captivated by the grace and beauty of the sport. At the age of six, her mother enrolled her in swimming lessons where she was introduced to synchronized swimming. It was love at first sight, and she immediately knew that this was the sport she wanted to pursue.
From the early stages of her career, Davydova displayed exceptional talent and dedication. Her coach put her to the test, asking her to give up her favorite foods of chocolate, cakes, and chips to prove her commitment to synchronized swimming. Without hesitation, Davydova sacrificed her indulgences and embraced the sport wholeheartedly. This determination and sacrifice would set the foundation for her future success.
Davydova’s breakthrough came when she was paired with Anastasia Ermakova. The duo showed promise at the junior level, and by the time they reached the senior level, they were already familiar faces to the judges. Their debut on the international stage came at the 2001 FINA World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, where they secured a second-place finish in the duet event.
The following year, Davydova and Ermakova dazzled the audience with a flawless routine, earning themselves the European Championships title. This victory marked their ascension to the top of the synchronized swimming world.
In 2003, at the World Championships in Barcelona, Davydova and Ermakova claimed their first senior world duet title, leading the Russian team to victory as well. Their performances were celebrated for their technical precision and artistic elegance.

Paired with Ermakova, they delivered an impeccable routine that scored a perfect 50 for artistic impression, receiving a score of ten from all five judges.
