Agnes von Rosen (September 8, 1924 – April 4, 2001) was a Swedish aristocrat, bullfighter, and stunt performer who made significant contributions to the world of entertainment. Born into a family with strong ties to the Swedish Royal Family, von Rosen’s life was marked by adventure, determination, and a passion for challenging societal norms.
Agnes von Rosen was born on September 8, 1924, in Stockholm, Sweden. Her father served as the Swedish Military Attaché to the British Embassy, providing her with a childhood immersed in a world of politics, diplomacy, and noble heritage. From a young age, von Rosen demonstrated a rebellious streak and an insatiable curiosity for unique pursuits.
Influenced by an early encounter with a newsreel featuring a woman fighting bulls on horseback, von Rosen’s interest in bullfighting was ignited. Fascinated by the combination of courage and skill displayed by this female bullfighter, she resolved to pursue a similar path. After graduating in physiotherapy from Lund University, Sweden, von Rosen embarked on a journey that would forever change her life.

However, her true passion lay in bullfighting, and she dreamt of honing her skills as a bullfighter in Mexico, which had a rich bullfighting tradition. To pursue her dreams, she married Lars Wahlquist and moved to Mexico.
In Mexico, von Rosen dedicated herself to mastering the art of bullfighting. She faced numerous challenges and overcame societal expectations and gender barriers prevalent in the male-dominated sport. Undeterred by the difficulties, von Rosen fearlessly entered the bullring, captivating audiences with her grace, courage, and artistry.

In September 1955, she participated in the ‘Hollywood Tournament of Thrills’ organized by the ‘Hell Drivers’ at the Sydney Showground. The event showcased the talents of some of the world’s greatest stunt drivers, and von Rosen’s act involved being pulled behind a car as it crashed through a wall of flames, leaving audiences in awe of her daring spirit.
