Born: 1970
Biography:
Xóchitl Guadalupe Hamada Villarreal, better known by her ring name Xóchitl Hamada, is a Mexican semi-retired Luchadora or professional wrestler. Born on May 1, 1970, Hamada comes from a lineage of professional wrestlers. Her father, Gran Hamada, is a renowned wrestler, and her sister is the wrestler Ayako Hamada. She is also the sister-in-law of Tiger Mask IV, another well-known wrestler. Hamada was previously married to Mexican wrestler Silver King and is currently married to Mexican wrestler Pentagon Black.
From the beginning of her career, Xóchitl Hamada showcased immense talent and passion for the wrestling industry. She made her professional wrestling debut in 1986 and underwent training from notable figures such as her father Gran Hamada, Blue Panther, and Shadito Cruz, the patriarch of the Nieves wrestling family.
Hamada embarked on a successful career in both Japan and Mexico. In the early 1990s, she joined Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) when the company decided to establish a women’s division. On March 21, 1993, Hamada achieved a significant milestone by defeating Bull Nakano and becoming the second-ever CMLL World Women’s Champion. Her reign continued for almost seven months before she was eventually dethroned by La Diabólica on October 10, 1993. Although Hamada had several rematches, she was unable to reclaim the championship.
During the mid-1990s, CMLL’s interest in the women’s division waned, resulting in limited opportunities for Hamada and her fellow wrestlers. As a result, Xóchitl Hamada pursued a new path in her career and joined Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), a rival promotion with a more active women’s division. At the 1997 Verano de Escandalo event, Hamada teamed up with La Pracicante for a tag team match. However, they lost and were compelled to participate in a Lucha de Apuestas, or a hair-versus-hair match. Hamada emerged victorious, shaving off her opponent’s hair after the match.
Continuing her success in AAA, Xóchitl Hamada teamed up with Lady Discovery, Lady Luxor, and Lady Venum to defeat La Fugitiva, La Migala, La Practicante, and Martha Villalobos at the 1997 Guerra de Titanes show. The following year, she participated in another Relevos Suicida match at the Verano de Escandalo show. Unfortunately, she and her partner, Rossy Moreno, were defeated by Alda Moreno and Miss Janeth.
Throughout her career, Hamada’s wrestling ability, charisma, and dedication to her craft have made her a highly respected figure in the industry. Her contributions to the women’s division in both CMLL and AAA have been significant, solidifying her status as a trailblazer and inspiration for aspiring female wrestlers in Mexico.
