Biography:
Svetlana Mikhaylovna Radzivil was born on January 17, 1987, in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR. She is a renowned Uzbekistani high jumper and is considered one of Asia’s top female high jumpers. Throughout her career, Radzivil has achieved numerous accolades and has become a symbol of excellence in her sport.
Radzivil’s journey in high jump began when she competed in the 2002 World Junior Championships in Kingston, Jamaica, where she finished in the top 20. Her dedication and hard work paid off when she won the gold medal at the 2006 World Junior Championships in Beijing, China, with a personal best jump of 1.91 meters. This victory marked the beginning of Radzivil’s rise to prominence in the world of high jump.
In the following years, Radzivil continued to showcase her talent and determination. She participated in various international competitions, including the Asian Indoor Championships and the Asian Games, where she consistently performed at a high level. In 2008, she made her Olympic debut at the Beijing Games, finishing in the top 20.
Radzivil’s breakthrough came in 2010 when she won the gold medal at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, with a jump of 1.95 meters. This victory would be the first of three consecutive Asian Games titles for her, as she went on to defend her title in 2014 and 2018. In addition to her Asian Games success, Radzivil also won the Asian Championships in 2015.
Over the course of her career, Radzivil has also represented Uzbekistan in multiple World Championships. She competed in the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, where she finished in seventh place, and the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, Russia, where she reached the top 10. In 2012, she achieved a career-high jump of 1.97 meters at the London Olympic Games, where she finished in seventh place.
Radzivil’s personal best jump of 1.97 meters, achieved in August 2012 in London and later matched in April 2021 in Mersin, demonstrates her exceptional abilities in the high jump event. Her consistent performances and remarkable achievements have cemented her status as one of the most successful high jumpers in Asia.
Beyond her athletic accomplishments, Radzivil has also made an impact off the field. In December 2019, she was elected to the Tashkent City Kengash of People’s Deputies, showing her commitment to public service and making a positive contribution to her community.
