Biography:
Solfrid Koanda (born 13 November 1998) is a Norwegian weightlifter who has made a significant impact on the world stage. Known for her incredible strength and determination, Koanda has captured the attention of the weightlifting community with her remarkable performances.
Koanda’s journey in weightlifting began at a young age. She first stepped into the gym at the age of 15 and discovered her passion for strength training. Her dedication and hard work paid off, and at the age of 18, she ventured into crossfit training. However, it was at the age of 21 that she found her true calling in weightlifting.
In February 2021, Koanda showcased her exceptional talent and qualified for the European Championships. She set the Norwegian record in the snatch with a lift of 96 kg and in the clean and jerk with an impressive 125 kg during a competition in Lillesand. This remarkable achievement marked the beginning of Koanda’s successful career in weightlifting.
Koanda continued to make waves in the weightlifting community, earning a bronze medal in the clean and jerk event at the European Weightlifting Championships in April 2021. With a new Nordic record of 135 kg, she proved her incredible strength and solidified her status as a rising star in the sport.
In the same year, Koanda showcased her skills at the European Junior & U23 Weightlifting Championships in Rovaniemi, Finland. She dominated her event and captured the gold medal, further establishing her presence on the international stage.
The following year, Koanda once again proved her dominance at the 2022 European Weightlifting Championships held in Tirana, Albania. She stood atop the podium, winning gold in her event and solidifying her position as one of the best weightlifters in Europe.
But Koanda’s journey didn’t end there. In 2021, she competed at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where she claimed the bronze medal in the women’s 87 kg event. This achievement further cemented her status as a formidable force in weightlifting.
Koanda’s most significant triumph came at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships held in Bogotá, Colombia. With unparalleled strength and determination, she secured the gold medal in the women’s 87 kg event, showcasing her unwavering commitment to the sport and solidifying her position as a world-class athlete.
Outside of weightlifting, Koanda works as an electrician, showcasing her capabilities in both mental and physical strength. Standing at 1 meter and 66 centimeters tall, she continues to inspire and motivate aspiring weightlifters around the world.
