Biography:
Shamim Rajani is an entrepreneur and businesswoman from Karachi, Pakistan. Born in the 1970s, she has made significant contributions to the Information Technology (IT) industry in her country. In 2004, Rajani began her professional career in the IT industry, marking the beginning of her journey towards becoming a prominent figure in Pakistan’s technology sector.
In 2005, Rajani co-founded Genetech Solutions, a software development company based in Karachi. This venture allowed her to showcase her leadership skills and drive for success. Since 2010, she has been serving as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Genetech Solutions, overseeing the company’s operations and contributing to its growth and success.
Rajani’s passion for empowering women and bridging the gender gap in the technology field is evident in her initiatives. In 2017, she launched a computer training program under the ConsulNet Corporation to empower non-tech women in Karachi. This program aimed to provide them with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital era.
Building upon this success, in 2018, Rajani partnered with Faiza Yousuf to launch CodeGirls, a training program aimed at empowering women through technology. CodeGirls, a subsidiary of ConsulNet Corporation, has enabled women in Pakistan to gain valuable skills in coding and programming, opening doors of opportunity for them in the tech industry.
Rajani’s contributions extend beyond her own ventures. She serves as an advisor for WomenInTechPK, a platform that supports and encourages women in the technology field in Pakistan. Additionally, she has been selected as the Pakistani ambassador for CryptoChicks, a renowned research institute based in Toronto, Canada. These roles allow her to inspire and support women in the tech industry not only in Pakistan but also on an international level.
In 2019, Rajani became a board member of the Pakistan Agile Development Society. Her involvement in this prestigious organization further demonstrates her commitment to fostering growth and innovation in the field of agile development in Pakistan.
Continuing to excel in her career, in the second quarter of 2020, Rajani was elected as the vice-chairperson of P@SHA (Pakistan Software Houses Association). Working closely with Jehan Ara, the president of P@SHA, Rajani brings her expertise and leadership to the organization, contributing to the development and advancement of the IT industry in Pakistan.
