Biography:
Mallika Sarabhai, an activist, Indian classical dancer, and actress, was born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India to renowned classical dancer Mrinalini Sarabhai and space scientist Vikram Sarabhai. She grew up in a household that nurtured her artistic talents and instilled in her a sense of social responsibility. Mallika’s passion for dance started at a young age, and she began her film career in parallel cinema when she was just 15 years old.
In her pursuit of knowledge and academic excellence, Mallika completed her MBA from IIM Ahmedabad in 1974 and obtained a Doctorate in Organisational Behaviour from Gujarat University in 1976. These educational achievements laid a solid foundation for her future endeavors in both the arts and activism.
Throughout her illustrious career, Mallika Sarabhai has excelled as a Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam dancer and performer, using her talents as a powerful medium for social change and transformation. She is a skilled choreographer and has also acted in several Hindi, Malayalam, Gujarati, and international films, showcasing her versatility as an artist.

Notably, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Star Award for Best Dance Soloist at the Theatre De Champs Elysees in Paris in 1977.
