Biography:
He Bingjiao (Chinese: 何冰娇; pinyin: Hé Bīngjiāo; Mandarin pronunciation: [x pi.tja]) is a Chinese professional badminton player. She was born on March 21, 1997, and began her badminton career at a young age. At the tender age of 7, He Bingjiao started receiving intensive badminton training at the Suzhou Junior Sports School. Recognizing her potential, she was sent to Nanjing for tougher training when she was 12 years old.
He Bingjiao made her senior international debut at the 2013 Vietnam Open, demonstrating her exceptional skills at a young age. Her talent and dedication were further showcased in 2014 when she competed at the Summer Youth Olympics. She clinched a gold medal in the girls’ singles event and added a bronze medal in the mixed doubles event to her achievement list. The world began to take notice of this rising badminton star.
From 2013 to 2015, He Bingjiao continued to make her mark on the badminton scene. She participated in various international tournaments and showcased her prowess on the court. In the Asian Junior Championships, she reached the semi-finals but was defeated by Thailand’s Busanan Ongbamrungphan. Similarly, she reached the semi-finals of the World Junior Championships but was beaten by Japan’s Aya Ohori.
However, He Bingjiao bounced back and claimed victory at the Vietnam Open by defeating Indonesia’s Hera Desi in straight games. The following year, at the 2014 World Junior Championships, she avenged her previous defeat against Aya Ohori and clinched victory. Unfortunately, she had to settle for a silver medal after a tightly contested final match against another Japanese player, Akane Yamaguchi.
One of He Bingjiao’s significant victories came at the Youth Olympic Games, where she defeated Akane Yamaguchi once again. This win served as revenge for her defeat in the World Junior Championships final. She also had an impressive campaign at the Bitburger Open, defeating notable opponents like Michelle Li and Beiwen Zhang. Despite her efforts, she finished as the runner-up after losing to Sun Yu.
In 2015, He Bingjiao secured her first title of the year at the China Masters, where she defeated Hui Xirui. She also reached the final of the New Zealand Open but was unfortunately defeated by Japanese player Saena Kawakami. The year brought disappointment at the World Junior Championships, as she suffered a shocking defeat in the quarter-finals against Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira. However, He Bingjiao ended the year on a high note by claiming the Indonesian Masters title, defeating Chen Yufei in straight games in the final. Notably, she also surprised everyone by defeating two-time World Championship bronze medalist P. V. Sindhu during the tournament.
In 2016, He Bingjiao had one of the most remarkable tournaments of her career at the Swiss Open. She defeated top players like Ratchanok Intanon, P. V. Sindhu, and Sun Yu to reach the finals. In a one-sided match, she convincingly defeated Wang Yihan with a score of 21–16, 21–10, gaining revenge for her previous loss to her in the All England tournament.
Throughout her career, He Bingjiao has consistently demonstrated her excellent skills, determination, and resilience on the badminton court. Her numerous victories and accolades underline her remarkable accomplishments in the sport.
