Biography:
Hanan Tork is a retired Egyptian actress and ballerina, born on March 7, 1975. Her birth name is Hanan Hasan Abdelkrim Tork, but she is commonly known as Hanan Tork. She grew up with two brothers, Hussein and Hossam, in Cairo, Egypt. Hanan’s father owned his own factory for clothes called El Torky for female dresses. Apart from her artistic career, Hanan is also recognized as a global spokesperson for an international charity.
Hanan’s journey as a performer began in ballet. She attended the Cairo Ballet Institute and completed her studies in 1993. Afterward, she joined the Cairo Ballet Group and later transitioned to the Classical Ballet Group. However, her aspirations extended beyond ballet.
In 1991, Hanan had her first acting opportunity when the renowned director Khairy Beshara noticed her talent and offered her a role alongside Nadia Al-Gindi in the movie Raghbah Motawaheshah. This experience fueled her passion for acting, and she soon landed another role in the television series El Awda El Akheera where she had the chance to act alongside Salah Zulfikar in one of his final roles. Hanan’s next television role was in the series Ber Sabe under the direction of Nur Eldemerdash. She also appeared in other TV productions such as El Sabr F El Mallahat, El Mal W El Banun, and Lan A’ish Fi Gelbab Abi.
In 1993, Hanan was offered a role on the silver screen in the film Dehk We Leb We Gadd W Hobb. However, her breakthrough came when she was selected by the renowned director Youssef Chahine to play a part in his movie El Mohager in 1994. This collaboration opened new doors for her career. In 1997, Hanan acted alongside the singer Mohamed Fouad in Ismailia Rayeh Gai. She also had the opportunity to work with Chahine again in his movie Al Masir in the same year.
Throughout her career, Hanan continued to showcase her talent and versatility. In 1999, she had leading roles in Al Akhar and Fata Men Israel. She collaborated with Youssef Chahine once more in the box office hit Al Assefa. In 2000, she appeared in the Ramadan serial Opera Aida and achieved further success the following year in the film Amira Men Abdeen alongside the renowned actress Samira Ahmed.
One of Hanan’s notable roles was in the comedy movie Ga’na Al Bayan Al Taly in which she played the leading female role opposite Mohamed Henedi. In 2001, she also appeared in the comedy movie Gawaz Be Karar Gomhourey. Hanan’s fame continued to rise with the release of Haramiyya Fi KG2 in 2002 and its sequel Haramiyyah fi Tayland in 2003.
Hanan Tork’s talent and dedication earned her recognition and nominations for her performances. In 2007, she was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards for her role in the film Kas w lask.
