Biography:
Dalys la Caribeña, born on February 20, 1975, in Panama, is a renowned Panamanian luchadora, also known as a female professional wrestler. Her wrestling career has spanned various promotions, but she is currently associated with the prestigious Mexican professional wrestling promotion, Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). Known by different names such as Dalys la Caribeña, Dalys, Dallys, and Dalis, her monikers all refer to the same talented wrestler. The name Dalys translates to The Caribbean Girl, reflecting her vibrant and energetic persona in the ring.
Hailing from a family deeply ingrained in the wrestling industry, Dalys is a second-generation wrestler. Her father, a retired wrestler turned wrestling promoter in Panama, instilled in her a passion for the sport. She is also the sister of professional wrestler Rafael Ernesto Medina Baeza, known by his ring name Veneno, who successfully wrestles in Mexico. Furthermore, Dalys is related to the extended Casas wrestling family through her marriage to Negro Casas, a prominent Mexican wrestler.
Dalys rose to prominence through her association with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). During her time with CMLL, she held two prestigious championships—the CMLL World Women’s Championship and the CMLL Japanese Women’s Championship. Her exceptional abilities inside the ring, coupled with her captivating presence, made her a force to be reckoned with in women’s wrestling.
Outside of her wrestling career, Dalys has a rich personal life. While her full birth name remains undisclosed, it is known that her birth surname is Medina Baeza. Her marriage to José Casas, better known as Negro Casas, a former wrestler who later became a wrestling promoter, brought her to Mexico City. Casas himself had worked for Dalys’ father’s wrestling promotion, which led to their union. In addition to her husband, Dalys is also a part of the extensive Casas wrestling family, which includes her father-in-law, retired wrestler and current referee Pepe Casas, as well as her brothers-in-law Erick Francisco Casas Ruiz, who wrestles as Heavy Metal, and Jorge Luis Casas Ruiz, known as El Felino. Her sister-in-law, Blanca Rodríguez, wrestles as Princessa Blanca.
Dalys and Casas share two daughters, who are currently training in Olympic-style wrestling, aspiring to follow in their mother’s footsteps. Notably, José Casas entrusts their wrestling training to renowned trainers Ringo Mendoza, Tony Salazar, Arturo Beristain, and Franco Colombo. One of Dalys’ daughters is even married to professional wrestler Diamante. Furthermore, she has two nephews who have also entered the wrestling world as Tiger and Puma King, the sons of Jorge Casa and step-sons of Blanca Rodríguez.
Before her professional wrestling career, Dalys had a background in kickboxing and often sparred with Negro Casas. At ringside, she would support her husband during important matches, recognized as his wife. However, since Dalys transitioned into a professional wrestler, the focus on their family relationship has diminished. The family connection between Princesa Blanca, who portrays a bad guy character, and Dalys la Caribeña, who epitomizes a good guy character, has also been downplayed by CMLL.
Dalys’ dedication to her craft and exceptional skills have left an indelible mark on women’s wrestling. With her powerful presence and captivating performances, she continues to inspire and break barriers in a male-dominated industry. Dalys la Caribeña stands as a testament to the strength, talent, and resilience of women in professional wrestling.
