Chen Yufei is a Chinese professional badminton player who was born on 1 March 1998. She has made a significant impact in the world of badminton and is considered one of the top players in the sport.
Chen’s journey in badminton began in 2013 when she started playing at the international level at the age of 15. In 2014, she showcased her skills and reached the finals of the Asian Junior Championships, where she won the silver medal after being defeated by Akane Yamaguchi. Later that year, she finished as the runner-up in the German Junior International event after losing to Qin Jinjing in the final.
The following year, in 2015, Chen reached the finals of the China International but suffered a loss to Nozomi Okuhara. This marked her first Grand Prix Gold final appearance at the Indonesia Masters, where she defied expectations by defeating several seeded players, only to lose to her teammate He Bingjiao in the final.
In 2016, Chen emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the badminton world. She claimed major junior titles, including the Asian Junior Championships by defeating Gregoria Mariska Tunjung in the final, and the BWF World Junior Championships by beating Pornpawee Chochuwong. Additionally, she clinched the 2016 Macau Open Grand Prix Gold title by defeating Chen Xiaoxin.
The year 2017 saw Chen achieve further success in her career. She reached the final of the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold but unfortunately had to settle for second place after losing to Chen Xiaoxin, who had also defeated her in the 2016 Macau Open final. However, Chen’s breakthrough moment came in the 2017 BWF World Championships, where she stunned the world by defeating top-seeded Akane Yamaguchi in the quarterfinals. She went on to secure a bronze medal after losing to P. V. Sindhu in the semifinals. Chen’s strong performances earned her a spot in the prestigious 2017 BWF Super Series Finals, where she reached the semifinals but fell short against P. V. Sindhu once again.
In 2018, Chen continued to display her skills and determination on the badminton court. She participated in various tournaments and established herself as a formidable competitor.
